1.SOLAS regulation
The periodic servicing and maintenance of launching appliances, lifeboats and on-load release gear should be carried out in accordance with IMO MSC Circular 1206 from July 1st 2006. This circular requires that the annual and 5 yearly servicing and maintenance should be conducted by the manufacturer's representative or a person appropriately trained and certified by the manufacturer for the work to be done.
When repairs, thorough servicing and annual servicing are completed, a statement confirming that the lifeboat arrangements remain fit for purpose should be issued by the manufacturer's representative or by the person certified by the manufacturer for the work.

2.The service network

We have business agreements with some life-saving appliances manufacturers, concerning the periodic servicing and maintenance.
You can request us for the periodic servicing and maintenance, and we will arrange with them.

4.The main contents of inspection
1) Checking records of inspections, servicing, repairs, and maintenance
2) Open and inspect brake mechanism and gear box.
3) Visual check, operating check, and lubrication with all parts
・Dynamic winch brake test
−Annual inspection:
when the empty boat has reached its maximum lowering speed and before the boat enters the water, the brake should be abruptly applied
−5 yearly inspection:
when the boat loaded to a proof of 1.1times the full load of boat, or equivalent load has reached its maximum lowering speed and before the boat enters the water, the brake should be abruptly applied.
・Test for release gear (boat side)
  −Annual inspection:
operational test of off-load release
−5 yearly inspection:
operational test of on-load release and overhaul  etc.
Please support our service engineers during the work in order to shorten working time and make the work go smoothly.
The below work must be done by ship personnel
◆Advance preparation:
1) Launching appliances must be complete and in good order.
  Please give us necessary information in advance, if any defects.
2) Prepare the below.
@Push button switch box
AMaintenance pendant
BStarter panel
3) Oil, grease, and tools(ex: chain block, gear puller, gas) should be prepared on ship side.
4) Boat winch should be under condition that brake part and gear box are opened easily.
5) Remove over lashing wire rope in advance.
6) Charge batteries.
7) Make launching appliances ready for the operation test.
8) If necessary, please get port permission for turning out.
◆During work:
1) Inspection must be done at the presence of ship's captain or PIC.
2) Operation of launching appliances done by ships personnel
3) Dynamic winch brake test done by personnel
◆Others:
1) Stow, put in order, and recoat after work.
2) If no maintenance pendant or hanging-off pennants, lifeboat should be positioned fully waterborne to test the release gear.

5.Notice
The annual and 5 yearly servicing and maintenance, should be conducted by the manufacturer's representative or a person appropriately trained and certified by the manufacturer, proves only that these launching appliances have been found to be fit for purpose.
The annual and 5 yearly servicing and maintenance never guarantee that these launching appliances will be fit for purpose after these inspections.

6.The standard service rates

The Standard Service Rates

For the periodic servicing and maintenance of only launching appliances
Rates effective until Dec. 31. 2008
◆The below price does not include tax.
1.Standard work( in case that all parts are kept under satisfactory condition)
@executed on vessels 300,000 JPY
 
condition:
two boat davits for one ship (@150,000JPY/one boat davit)
  within 8:00〜17:00 (8H work including waiting hour/2 engineers)
  Monday to Friday
  Aissued statement 30,000JPY
  Btraveling cost actual cost
  Cextra hour for transportation @10,000JPY/1 hour/1 engineer
            in case that traveling and waiting time is six hours,
            extra will be charged.
2.Extra work
    @12,000JPY/1 hour/1 engineer
3.Work for extra day
  @hotel,etc. @15,000JPY/1 night/1 engineer
  Awork 8:00〜17:00 @10,000JPY/1 hour/1 engineer
      extra work @12,000JPY/1 hour/1 engineer
4.Holiday work( including Sat, Sun and National holiday)
  increased by 35% of 1-@,2,3-A
5.Spare parts and repair will be charged extra
6.Term of payment
  Payment on cash by the end of the next month of inspection
7. Term of request
  Two weeks before inspection
   
Extra work or postponed work caused by bad weather or unsatisfactory condition of launching appliances is on ship’s own responsibility.
Formal quotation will be sent after we check the details of your request for the periodic servicing and maintenance.

7.The application for purchase of "Instructions for on-board maintenance"
NOTE
The details of "Instructions for on-board maintenance" has been changed in accordance with IMO MSC Circular 1206 from previous "Maintenance manual".

We are supposed to be flooded with applicants, so please request us as soon as possible.

2) Please fill in the blanks and send it to us with necessary information such as pictures of defects and exchanged parts.
3) We(including Service agent or Service company) will inform you of our service quotation.
4) Please send us formal order.
5) We will inform you of our service details.

9.The statement issued by our approved service companies
The statement issued only by our approved service companies can prove that these launching appliances have been found to be fit for purpose.
